BREAKING NEWS: UFCW Local 951 Endorses George Franklin for Congress in MI-6
Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 951 announced they are endorsing George Franklin for Congress in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District, becoming the first major union to endorse in the primary.
“UFCW 951 is proud to endorse George Franklin for Congress in Michigan’s 6th district. Throughout his career, George has demonstrated that he will stand up for the hardworking men and women of southwest Michigan,” John Cakmakci, UFCW 951 President said, “From his time at Kellogg Company to his time on the Board of Trustees at Western Michigan University, he has proven over and over again that he will always be on the side of working families. Our more than 30,000 members across Michigan know they can count on George to fight for local jobs, protect their healthcare, and ensure a secure retirement including Medicare and Social Security.”
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the hardworking men and women of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 951,” Franklin said, “During my time at Kellogg Company, I was the go to person when the union needed issues resolved. On the Board of Trustees at WMU I did not hesitate to fight for Prevailing Wage when it was under attack by the Engler administration. In Congress I will always be the first to stand up when workers are under attack.”
